The developers of Griffin Ranch, a venture consisting of MG Ranch Land, a real estate company founded by the late Merv Griffin, and Trans West Housing, intend to complete the community with full respect to Merv Griffin's visions and specifications. The exclusive master-planned equestrian community in south La Quinta sits on 259 acres that was originally part of Merv Griffin's personal estate. Griffin Ranch formally opened in late May 2007.
According to Trans West Housing President, Barry McComic, the late entertainer and astute entrepreneur participated at every level in the planning of the community. "Merv Griffin was a man with great perception," McComic noted. "Griffin Ranch was his idea, and we're fortunate that he was an active, creative participant throughout the planning process. He had a special, people-oriented style and a great sense of humor that engaged and amused the Griffin team. He was a true visionary, and he was an inspiration to all of us who worked with him. He will be deeply missed, personally and professionally."
With complete build-out of Griffin Ranch anticipated in five years, McComic states that Merv Griffin's plans for all components of the community will be fully executed. This includes the private Griffin Club, a 24,000 square foot clubhouse with extensive social and recreational amenities, and The Saddle Club, an elaborate, state-of-the-art equestrian facility within the community. Construction on The Griffin Club will begin soon, and The Saddle Club is expected to break ground late this year.
"We will carry out all that Merv Griffin envisioned with the addition of special features to be dedicated to him. A sculpture of his beloved horse, Stevie Wonder Boy, is currently in production and will be placed at the entrance of the clubhouse. It will be a touching tribute to Mr. Griffin and his brilliant legacy," McComic adds.
Griffin Ranch is located on Avenue 54 just east of Madison Street in south La Quinta. The community will consist of approximately 393 custom and semi-custom homes, riding trails, The Griffin Club and The Saddle Club.
